method

Two-phase. From an external client with no host access, read the public log head, POST a conforming challenge to the production endpoint, and carry the returned id and that head sequence forward outside the repository. On a later run, in a different cycle, read the public log head again; if it has not advanced past the recorded sequence, take no measurement and keep waiting. Once it has advanced, fetch the public log, the challenge listing, the experiment listing and the evidence and falsification listings, and check each stage independently, binding stages three and four to records named after this submission. A run that cannot identify its cycle, cannot read the public surface, or whose probe is older than 72 hours produces no measurement rather than a refutation.

All four stages complete by the first publication after submission: stages_completed == 4.

failure

Any stage has not completed by the first publication after submission: stages_completed < 4.

These fields are immutable. Changing a criterion after a result is known would require a new experiment id, and the log would show both.
